Venture House has been designed to provide tenants with a secure working environment
with a high level of information communications technology infrastructure.
In accordance with Chesterfield Borough Council's aim to provide accessible
buildings, disability access guidelines have been considered and Venture
House has level access throughout, lift to accommodate wheelchair users,
disability accessible WC in each suite and allocated disabled people's
parking close to entrance.
ICT provision
Each suite is fitted with a structured cabling system providing a versatile arrangement of
computer/telephone points. A cabling cabinet allows RJ45 connections to be patched into tenant
provided telecommunications and data network equipment that can be attached to the 19 inch rack mounts.
This will facilitate the movement of people and equipment within each suite.
A shared high speed broadband internet connection is available.
Fibre and RJ45 cabling from the building services room is also
installed to permit connection of tenant provided telephone switching
equipment to the BT network but may also be used to allow the
connection of up to twenty individual telephone lines.
Geothermal heating/cooling system
Venture House has a geothermal heating/cooling system similar
to that operating in Dunston Innovation Centre on the same site.
The innovation centre's system has been monitored by government
officers for a year and showed energy savings of £28,000 compared
with a normal air-conditioned building.
The system uses the earth as a permanent heat source which releases
up to 4kw of energy for every 1kw of energy employed. Energy saving zoned
lighting system and high levels of insulation also contribute towards a
highly energy efficient building.
Security
External CCTV system with 24/7 monitoring.
External lighting to the building and surrounding area including car parking.
Each suite with an individual intruder alarm system.
Glazing at ground floor is heat soaked toughened (gives approximately
eight times the strength of annealed glass).
Imagesound is a high-tech company providing music and media to thousands
of retail chains throughout Europe. We had two main criteria when planning our new offices, first
class links by road, rail and air together with a setting and infrastructure where a technology
driven business could excel. Dunston Technology Park has exceeded our expectations in both areas.
